After studying economics, I quickly advanced toward becoming an applied economist with a strong interest in long-term historical perspectives. This motivated me to enroll in a Master's program in Global Economic History, ultimately leading me to complete a PhD in Economic History.

My research interests focus particularly on the organization of preindustrial economies and on how key aspects of human life—such as well-being and inequality—responded to long-term transformations. More recently, I have expanded my work to encompass more modern periods and topics, including the loss of human capital resulting from military conflicts, historical demography, and anthropometric history.

Although my primary area of study is Western economic history, I have recently begun to explore topics related to the Asia-Pacific region.
